Resolved : We are blocked after updating the BIOS on µSVR

Post by fredcbc »

Hello,

We recently acquired a microsvr on which we installed windows 7 pro on the 64gb SSD and a RAID10 with four HDD 2.5P 1TB.

We had the next BIOS release: BIOS core version CR_2.2.0.346 X64.
and read the documentation on how to update the BIOS.
We found the availability of a new BIOS:core version CR_2.2.0.377 X64

We followed all the steps.
The BIOS is updated correctly.

But after the reboot, we have the following message: Missing operating system.

We always have access to the setup at startup by pressing F2
We can start at boot via an external dvd player dvd installation windows 7 pro and alsoboot from an operating system on a bootable USB key.

But we could not access either the Intel utility for RAID and either the operating system windows 7 pro that we installed and worked fine.
In the setup (F2) in advanced, we do not have the ability to enable RAID functionality.
So we are blocked waiting and what to do to break the deadlock.

We need your help.

Thank you

NB: For information I also posted this message in General µSVR question.

Hi,

I'm still stuck on the μSVR: Missing operating system.

I compared with the BIOS settings on a PC INTENSE I have also in our possession.
There is no visible difference in the settings.

How do I activate the RAID functionality in the new BIOS installed on µSVR?
Should I go back to the old BIOS?
If so, how?
Where can I download the correct BIOS for μSVR?
Is there a tutorial or advanced help on the settings for BIOS μSVR ?

Thanks

For more information, we want to update the bios μSVR for the following reason:
At start with the old BIOS we had a hdd that displayed the message: Disk Read Error Occurred.
We followed the recommendations of the Intel RST RAID website regarding this problem :

http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/i ... 008947.htm

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST)
Error: "Disk Read Error Occurred" after setting up RAID 0/1 on ICH5R

Description
An error message that says "Disk Read Error Occurred" appears after you install the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager software on a platform with Intel® ICH5R, set up a RAID volume, and reboot your system.

Solution
To resolve this issue, the Intel® RAID option ROM must be updated to version 3.5.0.3003. The Intel RAID option ROM is built into the system BIOS. To update the option ROM, update the system BIOS on your motherboard to a system BIOS that includes option ROM v3.5.0.3003.

Note The Intel RAID option ROM version 3.x provides support for platforms with the Intel® 82801ER I/O controller hub (ICH5R) only; the issue should not be seen on other platforms.
You should be able to get an updated system BIOS from one of the following locations:

If your motherboard was manufactured by Intel, download and install the latest BIOS, available on Download Center.
If your motherboard was not manufactured by Intel, contact your computer manufacturer for the latest updates and technical support information. Intel has made the updated Intel RAID option ROM available to all computer manufacturers.
Cause
The error message is caused by a timing issue with the hard drives. The issue does not occur on all SATA hard drives and only occurs under certain conditions. There is currently no way to determine if your specific hard drive(s) might exhibit this issue. If you do not receive the error message after reboot, your hard drives should not be impacted by the issue."

It is for this reason that we made this action to upgrade BIOS.

And unfortunately for the finality we are blocked ...

Hi,

Please see attached file.
Simply substitute attached CRX64.bin with the IPC flashing package.

Hi,

Thank you very much for the bios.

I installed it and everything is back as the beginning.

By cons, one of the four HDD in RAID 10, continues to be marked error occured.
Is it a problem of hard management or a problem hdd itself ?

I don't know.

Regards
