I just got a fitPC3 pro. I am unable to get sound via HDMI, SPDIF or TOSLINK.
I'm searching around right now to figure it out... kinda wishing that it had been setup at the factory via the image.

Have you chosen HDMI output option in Sound Settings?

In the Volume Control settings, I have chosen:
Playback: Internal Audio Digital Stereo (HDMI) (PulseAudio Mixer)

Re: No sound in LinuxMint
I got sound working in only XBMC by explicitly setting the output in XBMC and setting output to HDMI according to:

Ironically... my TV does not pass through DTS sound to my receiver so I need to get SPDIF working. The guide is not working

Re: No sound in LinuxMint
Hi,
Can you please make system update and then reboot?
There was a bug in MATE desktop environment, "sound settings" applet worked incorrectly. Now it's fixed. May be you have this bug.
In general you must see all available outputs in "Sound Settings", and just click on the desired output to get sound from it.
