RS232 problem

Post by danneman »

Hello.

I am trying to set up a communication on RS-232 with built in COM1 mini serialport.

The problem is that I can only receive data on this port. Nothing happens when I send data. I have set up two Fit-PC3 and the both have the same issue.

Has anybody experienced this problem? I have set up over 20 Fit-PC2i and the have never had any problems like this.

/Daniel

I connected TX to RX on the mini serial cable but I don't get any reading on receive.

I checked BIOS and UART is configured as Serial.

What else can I check?

It is most likely a HW problem, as serial communication should work seemlessly when you configure the terminal. It is either a DTE (device) or DCE (fit-PC3) serial port problem.

Before issuing an RMA please try to replace to a known working DTE device (some other data terminal equipment) to verify it is not the fit-PC3.
Another way to check functionality on fit-PC3 serial port is by applying a loop-back between Tx and Rx via a dedicated dongle, that connect the Tx to Rx.
