RS232 compatibility

Post by Kibo »

On a linux system I'm trying to read the RS232 input control pins.

While reading DSR and CTS I get back what I expect

Reading DCD and RI fails. DCD is always high and RI is always low.

I'm not using them for serial com, but merely as GPIO's.

Anyone who knows whether DCD and RI are supposed to work on fitpc?
I'm using the DB9 to mini-something converter as interface by the way

Reading the post fit-PC3 specifications I just noticed the following description of the RS232: "Partial modem controls"

Does that mean that only a subset of the normal DB9 pins are available?

Anyone who can clarify?

You're right!
DCD and RI signals are not supported on fit-PC3 system.
