No audio in win7

Post by gunjar »

Hi Irads,
Just fired up my new fitPC2i compulab sent me as a replacement for a recent RMA.

Seems good apart from there being no analog audio. Using speakers and headphones that work when plugged into my old desktop XP PC I get no sounds out.

When I go to Control Panel, Sounds, Playback,
under:
Speakers, it tells me "High definition audio device not plugged in" with a nasty little red downwards arrow

But below that it shows:
Digital Audio (S/PDIF) High definition audio device, Default Device with a big green tick beside it.

I've been and enabled the speakers several times but nothing changes.

The microphone appears to work.

I hope you can help me,

Regards

Hi Irad,

Followed those instructions, but no change. Ran the files twice, both times amongst the little black screens that flashed up momentarily there was one which seemed to be saying access denied but it was gone again before I could see the rest of the little white print.

When I go to control panel, speakers, properties, it shows
controler information
High definition audio device
Jack information
LR with green jack symbol, rear panel 3.5mm jack
C sub with pink jack symbol rear panel 3.5mm jack
RLR with black jack symbol rear panel 3.5mm jack
LR with grean jack symbol front panel 3.5mm jack

instead of the two jacks that are really there on the rear panel of the fitPC2i

So still no sound where to from here

Open the audio_patch.exe file from from command line (CMD).
It will allow you to see the output of the application.

Thanks Leonid,

BUT how do you get to the command line?

When I go to open the audio_patch.exe file I'm only offered 'Run as Administrator'

When I open it from there a small black box (DOS?) opens and briefly shows:

' Error Access denied' then too quickly for me to copy it, something about device disabled & then device enabled. then the box disapears.

Then when I go to 'Sounds' in the control panel the speakers are still shown as disconnected.

It also offers running from 'troubleshoot compatability' I've tried running it from there, get the same little black window also telling me 'Error access denied' then Devcon.exe is not recognised as an internal, external operable command or batchfile, then similar stuff about audio device enabling.

But still there is no change and no sound.

I'm sorry but I'm not very 'Tech' savvy so you will have to explain things in words of one sylable or nearby.

Hi Leonid,

Further to yesterday's message, trying again to find some way to make this thing work, found I could copy some of the text coming up in the DOS box, some but not all, if I wait too long to copy it, the box just disapears again - - -

<ERROR: Access is denied.
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0662&SUBSYS_10EC0662&REV_1001\4&34DB6129&0&0001: Disabled
1 device(s) disabled.
Audio device enabling
HDAUDIO\FUNC_1&VEN_10EC7DEV_0662 . . . . . . . . . . .>
can never get to copy the last part it flashes away to fast

I hope that helps.

The ability to have sound functions is an important part of having a PC for me. So please let me know what further there is to do.

Hi.

Please, download the attached audio_patch.zip file. Unzip the audio_patch.exe file.
Run it in Administrator mode (right click on the file and choose the Run as administrator option).
Verify that the CMD output is same to the attached screenshot CMDout.pg

Hi Leonid,

OK so now I know what a CMD output is, Ta, thats what I've been calling a little black box or DOS box.

And as I said in the last email I'm not getting the display you show, and having run it again from todays attachment I'm still getting the same thing:

<ERROR: Access is denied.
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0662&SUBSYS_10EC0662&REV_1001\4&34DB6129&0&0001: Disabled
1 device(s) disabled.
Audio device enabling
HDAUDIO\FUNC_1&VEN_10EC7DEV_0662 . . . etc

I don't know how to do a screen shot so I've just copied and pasted as much as I could get of it.

Where to from here

Hi.

Did you use Run as administrator option when you run the file from today's attachment?
