Ubuntu 10.04

Post by earthshelterman »

loaded 10.04 on out pc-2 today. works fine so far, but I assume it will need a specific
graphic driver update from Compulab? at high resolution it still flickers.

Hi- I also upgraded to Lucid Lynx (10.04), but for me it is insisting on starting in low-graphics mode. Once I do that everything works but the screen refreshes are painfully slow.

Apparently this is not a fit-pc compatibility problem but rather a GMA500 driver problem. It seems there is as of yet no solution for anyone:

Thanks for the tip, but this did not work for me. I went to /etc/wireless/rt2860sta/rt2860.dat file and opened it up with gedit and it appears empty. is there a driver I need to load elsewhere?

Some news about this:

--------

http://www.happyassassin.net/2010/04/26 ... -incoming/

Poulsbo packages for F12, F13 may be incoming

The wonderful Olivier Blin of Mandriva has come through with his patches for making the psb video driver for Poulsbo (GMA 500) chipsets work on newer versions of X.org. He reports success – including 3D – with X server 1.7.

Enjoy this in Mandriva Cooker, it's already available in our contrib packages!

Other distros, you're welcome in cherry-picking our psb patches.

Re: When will ubuntu Lucid 10.04 support Intel GMA500 "Poulsbo" video hardware?
Xorg PSB patched by Blino and packaged by me (DEB)

Haven't tried it yet.. let me know if ok!

wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1338581/Gma500/ ... o_lucid.sh && sh ./poulsbo_lucid.sh

Thanks, I'm working on rebuilding the kernel for ubuntu 10.04 but this is mainly to make a ubuntu server release for fit-pc2(i)

I believe it should be empty, the driver just needs to see that it is there- i just rebooted and it suddenly worked.

I am not at my fit-pc now but maybe there is something in the user permissions? I remember that I had to re-enable audio, maybe wireless is not enabled for your user?

Almost, I've recompile the kernel and made the ubuntu server iso boots from a modified initrd. I just have to set the new kernel image in grub so the new kernel is used at every boots and the hdd is always detected after the installation.

I have made the 10.04 fitpc custom kernel(pata patch) available if anyone want it :

Code: Select all

deb http://fitpc2i.dexnode.com/download/ubuntu/dists/lucid binary
