We are researching the reports about clock lag.
Frequent internet time synchronization is reported to be an acceptable workaround in many cases.

Hi,

any news about the clock lags?

This makes my beloved Fit-Pc2 nearly unusable...

I can't find anything in my logs, the lag just appears suddenly and increases overtime.

Thanks

redada

Has this issue been addressed? Is this a problem on all units, or only on some that are defective?

Not sure about defectiveness but this really happens on many units including mine. I also would like to have a response from the support team if there any other solution than using frequent ntp update.

I had the "clock lose" issue with Ubuntu 9.10. As I also had some network breakdown, I came across this this thread: http://www.fit-pc2.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 08&start=0

So I went in BIOS and set "Processur full speed" to "GV3 Only". It was about two weeks ago and since, my clock problem has disapeared.

As option you can periodically synchronize system clock to HW RTC.
Set the correct system clock:

Code: Select all

sudo ntpdate -u pool.ntp.org
Set hardware clock from system clock:

Code: Select all

sudo hwclock -w
Edit system crontab file:

Code: Select all

sudo crontab -e
Add this line to update system clock from hardware clock each 5 minutes:

Code: Select all

*/5 * * * * /sbin/hwclock -s

it has been nearly 6 months since last meaningful update on the clock problem. what's the current status and prognosis for a fix?

i'm astonished and confused that this debilitating defect has not been fixed for so long. i'm afraid i have to move my recommendation from "wait" to "do not purchase", disappointing for a product with such massive potential

We could not reproduce the problem in BIOS on several units that reported to exhibit it, so the HW RTC is assumed to keep the time correctly - at least until further evidence of the problem.

You may discuss the problem in the context of the operating system in the corresponding sub-forum.
