fit-PC2 Diskless Performance?

Post by johnsandiford »

Will a fit-PC2 Diskless Performance be sold with the following or similar specifications:

CPU: Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz
Storage: No hard disk. Bay for 2.5" SATA
WiFi: 802.11b/g
No operating system

Standard features:

Memory: 1GB DDR2
Display: DVI up to 1920x1080
Audio: High definition 2.0
LAN: 1000 BaseT Ethernet
USB: 6 USB
IR Receiver
miniSD socket
12V power supply

If so do what will be the RRP? I am guessing ~$300.

Initially we are restricting the stock keeping configurations, but we would supply other configurations to distributors so you can check with your nearest distributor when fit-PC2 is made available.

I'd like to second johnsandiford's request. I'm considering buying fit-PC2, but I would fit it with a SSD because I need a *completely* silent PC. Thus, I'd have no use for a spare 2.5" HD, and I suppose quite a number of people might think the same. The "diskless" configuration is perfect for me except for the low performance CPU.

Was just about to make a similar post but was glad to find others sharing my concern. Now I only hope my local resellers will push for this option as well. Besides that I'm very excited about getting one :)

Again, I would rather have just one disk, and it be a bigger one than supplied. So the faster CPU and no hard drive would be my ideal choice.

+1

I'm buying a home server, and won't need a built in disk - I will have external disks for all my needs.

I can tell you though that I *am* buying this the *second* it becomes available. I've been looking for a fanless Atom or Nano-based replacement for my NSLU2 for a long time.

I like this configuration also. FreeBSD and a SSD.
Please make it available.
