Windows 7 SP1 is not quite the same as Windows 7

Post by vtailor »

So far, running Windows 7, SP1, on the z510 shows up to a 500 megabyte ram availability. I had been working on getting ram usage down in a z510 windows installation, and this is better than earlier attempts. The trick is using the zero graphics effects Windows 7 system and setting the screen resolution as low as possible to mimic what modern tablets and earlier minimal cedarview netbooks do. So, I tried Linux in 1068x600, which gives poor flash results. I am currently using 1280x720 in both Windows 7 and RIPLinuX. That seems up to now to give optimum performance on streaming flash and use minimal ram.
