Windows Home Server on fit-PC2

Post by rvaneynd »

Today I received my new fit-PC2.

The aim is for using it as a Windows Home Server and specificly as a client backup device for all my PC's, Notebooks and Netbooks.

Installation of Windows Home Server completed without any problems.
After installing the relevant drivers for the NIC etc, my new Windows Home Server is now ready to receive it's first client backup.

I might add an external 2nd USB Harddisk to see how the mirroring performs. But this would be a nice add-on feature.

At the moment I have a Backup server for all my client PC's which consumes less than 10Watts...

NICE...

Raoul.

Hi rvaneynd

Does your WHS run on the 1.1Ghz or the 1.6Ghz, does it run smoothly ?

I'm planning to use a fit-pc2 + synology NAS to create my personnal storage/multimedia device ...

I have the 1.6Ghz version and WHS runs smoothly on it.
But I'm using the basic Windows Home Server software (+SP1) and the other updates available from microsoft.

I'm NOT running any fancy plugins that you can download from the web.

I have not tried to load the Windows Media Center extensions on it.

Hi, I also installed WHS in my fit-pc2i, but I need drivers for the network cards. Which drivers did you install for the NIC cards and where did you get them from?

Thank you.

Daniel, did you solve your problem with the network card drivers in Windows Home Server?

I'm considering taking the plunge on a fit-pc2i but would like some reasonable chance of success.
