Failure w/ Lenovo L201p monitor "Input signal out of range"

Post by rmshelby »

I have a Lenovo L201p LCD monitor, 1600x1200. When booting, I see the bios screen, the grub menu, the Ubuntu splash screen fine, followed by some text messages. Soon thereafter the screen goes black and displays "Input signal out of range."

I can boot in recovery mode; tried the "Fix X server" entry, but no change.
Tried fiddling with the Monitor section in xorg.conf, but no joy as yet.
Xorg.0.log looks normal to me, but I'm no expert here.

Please help to resolve this problem.

Thanks,
Bob

ps I'm a new fit PC2 owner. I presume this is the best place to come for support? What else is appropriate?

Can you offer a bit more info regarding OS version, Xserver, etc.

It's straight out of the box fit-PC2 linux, Ubuntu 8.04. apt-cache says xorg is version "1:7.3+10ubuntu10." Video driver is "psb."

Thanks,
Bob
