3.5" HDD

Post by serak »

Is it possible (ignoring not enough space in case) to use 3,5" HDD instead of 2,5" without external supply?

No. 3.5" requires 12V. There is no 12V rail available from fit-PC2.

The power supply for the Fit-PC2 itself is 12V. I built my own storage solution based on the Fit-PC2. I use two 3.5" hard disks from WD - 3TB together.
The original shipped power supply is too weak to drive 3.5" hard disks. You need a new 12V supply, for example a "tracopower" TMP 60112C.

I built a SATA controller and a power supply for two hard disks on different PCB's. The Fit-PC2 and the hard disks can be supplied with the same 12V power supply.

If you are interested in this solution, you can find further information on my homepage.
