Recommend Hard Drive

Post by jose1 »

Can anyone recommend a (decent priced) 160GB Hard Drive for the Fit-PC2 I was checking out the "Samsung Spinpoint M Series 160GB 2.5" Hard Drive" and "Seagate ST9160412AS Momentus 7200.4 Mobile Hard Drive - 160GB, 2.5", 7200 rpm, 16MB" would these work for me? its the first time I'm attempting something like this....
I guess what I really want to know is what specs do I need...or need to avoid Thanx!

Any 2.5" disk with standard height should work.
But 7200 RPM produces more heat and does not have any advantage in FitPC2.
So try to avoid this and get 5400 RPM instead.

What is considered 'standard height'? (One model gives me Depth 0.37" Compatible Drive Bay Width 2.5" Height 3.94" Width 2.75") Thanks for the quick response!

Temperature, Operating (°C): 0 to 60
Temperature, Nonoperating (°C): -40 to 65

Is this a issue?

That's normal spec. Works well with 1000s of fit-PC2.

Do the newer drives that are slightly thicker than 9.5mm still fit in the FIT-PC2, or is it too tight of a squeeze?

No, it cannot fit in unless you remove the bottom cover of Fit-PC2 (which voids your warranty).
