Troublesome r8169 driver .. (Fixed)

Post by Nko »

I installed ubuntu server 9.04 on my fit-pc2. When i try to copy a large amount of data (more then say 500 mb) to a samba share on my fit-pc2 the fit-pc2 network drops the connection (always).

After a couple of minutes it comes back up ??

I tried the following:
- I did try the watchdog solution of merbanan but my network keeps dropping.
- I installed the latest kernel version...no go
- I compiled the latest realtek driver (r8168) and blacklisted the old one..no go.

Anyone another idea ? I hope. This was not the experience i was looking for buying the fit-pc2 :?

Fixed ! A bios setting saved me.

This was the solution for me:
http://www.fit-pc2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=361

Conclusion:
BIOS > Intel > CPU Control sub menu > Processor Full Speed to GV3

I disabled C-states and GV3 is enabled.

I just copied 60gig to my fit-pc2 so i am happy.
