- We installed the Transcend 512GB SATA III 6GB/S MTS430S 42 mm M.2 SSD 430S Solid State Drive TS512GMTS430S.
- We bought the mounting plate. Alas, we got no screws to fasten it to the chassis. We had 3mm flatheads on hand so this was not an issue for us.
- The M2 socket was tight but OK. But the adjacent socket, which appears to be for the FACET cards, has one damaged pin. This does not seem to affect our usage but...
- The biggest concern we have on the machine is the availability of 16GB SODIMMS. Micron's chip has been discontinued. I ordered one from a vendor, was told it was shipping, only to later get a "oh, we're out of stock.." update. The original page was just then replaced with one showing the price doubled. Hmmm.
I'm hoping something simple such as a BIOS update could allow more available SODIMMS to work.

We got our prototype unit, inspected it, installed M.2 SSD and 8 GB RAM and FreeBSD within 30 minutes. It is an impressive piece of engineering.
