Often when I have added a new software package and then try to turn the computer off I get the “Getting windows ready. Do not turn off your computer” message. It may take an hour before the computer finally finishes and turns off. Is this normal?

Re: Do not turn off your computer.
You are running Windows 10?

If it takes hours for an update, well that confirm it is Windows
It may not be because of your recently added software, it is possible that there is a lot of other updates running in the background, that takes this time to finish.
