Memtest86+ freezes

I am only able to run Memtest86+ (v5.01) in fail-safe mode (F1). The default and SMP modes freeze instantly.

My memory passes when I run fail-safe mode plus I've made it through 12hrs of mprime so I know the fitlet is stable.

When I use the Memtest86+ config menu to read the RAM SPD it freezes instantly. I suspect there is an issue with how SPD is read on the fitlet.

Does anyone else have this problem with Memtest86+?

I don't remember any specific trouble with Memtest86+, but the latest stable version in the Gentoo repository was 4.20-r1.

Gentoo has it's own list of stable verses un-stable for packages. Version 5.01 is listed as un-stable. I can easily try reading my RAM SPD with 4.20-r1, and if good, repeat with 5.01.

We expect to issue a BIOS revision in the near future. I will pass the SPD observation to the BIOS team.

I was never able to get Memtest86+ version 5.01 to work with my fitlet-iA10, simply
blank screen. Trying F1 did nothing.

Using 4.20-r1 runs through the memory testing, though mis-identifies the SO-DIMM.
This also does not return SPD configuration, complaining about;
  • SMBus Controller not known
That SMBus is probably the way memory SPD EEPROMs are read. So I am not
surprised that it mis-identified my SO-DIMM.

This is the answer from Compulab BIOS team:

The fitlet's BIOS supports the RAM SPD.

Memtest86+ is not supported by the AMD Mullins SOC

We recommend the commercial version of the Passmark Memtest86 Pro.
