Would a key combination be easier ?
[Alt]+[SysRq]+[K]
(Kill all processes on the current virtual console)
Or writing a script that restart GDM 30 seconds after having switched the fit-pc on ?

Nomight this be a psb problem?

Use the VNC client on a machine different from the one running VNC server (your fit-pc).
Otherwise, you'll have a loop effect with VNC.

Re: How to boot Ubuntu 8.04 Gnome without a Monitor?
After having : 1) switched your tv on, 2) selected the hdmi-1 channel, 3) and eventually restarted GNOME Display Manager (hoping you've kept a keyboard plugged in) $ sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart 4) does Xorg detect your tv ? There's no other clue reading the following : That's not how X works. The o...

I need to manually press the power switch to shut down the system 1) Open menu.lst : $ sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst 2) Add reboot=b at the end of the line # defoptions=quiet splash (keep the line commented) : # defoptions=quiet splash reboot=b 3) Save...

Re: Problem with BIOS update
- What kind of Windows (XP, Vista, Seven) ?
- Are you running "ImUpdate.exe" as an Administrator ?
- Instead of "ImUpdate.exe", maybe another tool could help :
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Win32DiskImager
(Windows meddling from a GNU/Linux user)

Re: How to configure screen resolution
I haven't got any monitor plugged into my fit-pc2 too. My fit-pc2 is running Ubuntu Linux 9.04 Jaunty - kernel 2.6.28-14. When I want to remote access my fit-pc2, I use open source protocoles : VNC, XDMCP, SSH -X, etc. ... The screen resolution is always perfect (higher than 800x600). But I haven't ...

Re: A BIOS update 21-Jul-09 is released

As I wrote earlier, simply do : dd if=<directory-with-128MBDOS.IMG-file>/128MBDOS.IMG of=/dev/<your-USB-device> bs=128M Unplug / re-plug your USB stick and copy the fil...
