Re: sd card reader not working
The SD card reader is not USB. It's a PCI(e) type device and Linux does not yet understand hot swap automatically. I've got the intructions here in the forums on how to hot swap SD cards, in the Linux forums; http://www.fit-pc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=144&t=5664 The process is a bit clumsy, but wor...

Re: incomplete documentation
That's the mSATA heat sink.
If you are using a SD/SDHC/SDXC instead, you don't need it.
Plus some mSATA SSDs don't get that hot.
But, you are right they should have some instructions on both what is
included. And how to use it.

Re: fitlet-H bios update
I too would like to see the fitlet-H BIOS update.
Preferably the .08 version that includes the serial port configuration and
BIOS redirection. My fitlet-H is wired to a network terminal server. That
allows Grub, Linux kernel boot time and console access, but not BIOS
access.

Re: BIOS & serial console support
The prior BIOS update allowed Grub and the Linux kernel to work with the serial port. And the latest fitlet BIOS update adds a bunch more serial port configuration. But, it's not for the fitlet-H/T models. The Wiki page actually says this; For fitlet-B/i/iA10/X/XA10 models only When will the fitlet-...

Re: Inserting/removing uSD card problem
For my fitlet-iA10, the plastic slot in the panel was a bit too small. Could not reliably install and remove a microSD card. So I took off the front panel and on the inside, used a philips head screw driver to make the inside of the slot slightly larger. Now the microSD cards install normally. I def...

Re: Boot OS from micro SD
Glad it's working for you. Just remember to backup important files, (or the whole system), as microSD cards don't last as long as mSATA flash drives. As for speed, yes, a microSDHC/XC card seems to work great. I hope to turn my fitlet-iA10 into a pfSense firewall soon, using a microSD card as it's b...

Re: Optimizing for low power consumption
If WiFi is not needed, just remove it. In the case of the fitlet-i and fitlet-iA10, it's an internal half length miniPCIe card. For the other models, I understand it's a USB module. The mSATA drive take more power, (and are much faster), than a microSD card. In general, USB 3.0 devices take more pow...

Re: Boot OS from micro SD
The microSD slot is on the back panel, middle top. And I think it is labeled µSD. No, the microSD will not perform as well as a hard drive or SSD. It will work just fine, though cheap microSD cards tend not to last as long as a SSD would. (And certainly not as long as a spinning hard drive would.) S...

Re: fitlet-T - Will it have ECC memory support?
mbirger, Thank you. That link explains it better. Full sized memory DIMMs seem to use the same pin out for both non-ECC and ECC memory. Thus, some server boards can take either depending on the need. It's a shame the DDR3 SO-DIMM socket wiring is not compatible between non-ECC and ECC memory. I hope...

Re: fitlet-T - Will it have ECC memory support?
irads,
Does DDR3 SO-DIMM ECC memory use a different socket?
It's been hard trying to find that out. I know standard size DDR3 DIMMs for server
boards can sometimes take either non-ECC or ECC memory. Same socket.
