Re: Kernel for Meltdown/Spectre
Ok, I'm working my way through setting up Mint 18.3. Basic install worked ok, kernel and video driver no problems so far. But there are a few bumps in the road. Since Mint changed to systemd in 18, enabling ALPM as described here http://fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/Aggressive_Link_Power_Management_(ALP...

Kernel for Meltdown/Spectre
Any suggestions on a working kernel/video driver combo with meltdown patches? I'm using Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa Xfce (had upgraded from 17.1) with the recommended 3.16.0-38 kernel and fglrx driver. Linuxmint.com says to use 3.13.0-139 but with that I lose the cpu temp sensor. I also tried 4.4.0-109 whi...

Re: Has anyone upgraded to 17.3?
I followed the upgrade path outlined by Denis above and it seemed to go smoothly except for installing the RadeonSi video driver. When I rebooted, there were problems with the display, including the "confetti" block Dinosaur mentioned. vainfo gives libva info: VA-API version 0.35.0 libva info: va_ge...

Re: Fitlet-XA10: USB 3 (back) detected as USB 2 port
I had a similar (same?) problem on my iA10. A USB3 thumb drive would be seen as USB2 on the back blue port. I noticed the drive case was tight against the power cord when inserted, so I pulled off the sliding shield so it fit without pressing against the cord. Now it was seen as USB3.

Re: desktop does not use entire screen (leaves ~1 inch borde
That sounds like more of an overscan/underscan problem. I had the same issue until I set the display driver to 0% overscan. I use XFCE so it may be different, but in AMD Catalyst Control Center choose Display Manager and then the adjustments tab. You can adjust the image and scaling options and prev...

Re: mSATA heat sink missing in docu
Ok, I took another try at this. One of the chips on the ssd is thicker than the other. In the attached picture, if the heat plate is flat against the thicker chip, the other isn't touched. If the heat plate is touching both chips, they only make contact at the edges. If I put the cover on I assume o...

Re: mSATA heat sink missing in docu
I also have a problem with the EVO 850. I requested and received a heat plate for my iA10. When attaching the plate to the ssd, the chips on the ssd act as a fulcrum and the circuit board tilts up at an angle. The only way to get the board and plate to fit flat is have the screw so loose that it doe...

Re: Inserting/removing uSD card problem
I tried it some more and found that it does work. There is a lot of free movement up and down when inserting the card and it is easy to be mis-aligned and miss the socket. That's the problem I was having. With care I can now get it to work properly.

Inserting/removing uSD card problem
Is there a trick to it? The first time since I got my iA10 I tried inserting a uSD card. I pushed it in until it was flush with the case. Nothing. Tried pushing it a little further inside with my fingernail. Still nothing, and now I couldn't get it out. Shut the fitlet down and disconnected power. U...

Re: Fitlet XA10 does not start
No, sorry. I was lucky that it was something simple in my case, but if the LED doesn't change at all it does sound like something more. Hopefully one of the fitPC guys will have some suggestions.
