Re: VMware vSphere ESXi 5.0 Hypervisor

At this time, I have initial reports on a Fit-PC3 Pro, BIOS 2.1.0.333_11, with the FM-4E4U 4 Ethernet FACE module, running VMWare ESXi Hypervisor 5.1.0. The major issue I had installing was that it refused to boot from any of the front USB ports on the FACE module, nor would it boot from the outer U...

Suggestion: WLAN FACE module addition?

May I suggest a pair of FACE module derivatives for Wifi use, and an alternate: FM-4E.. - for routers that also serve as Wifi access points, keep the 4 Intel ethernet ports, drop the USB ports entirely, and then add 4 (a pair of 2x2 by itself, or 3x3 with the built-in jacks) or 6 (a pair of 3x3 by i...

Re: pfSense 2.0.1/FreeBSD 8.1

I'll let you know! I'm just waiting on the GbE FACE module to be generally available, and am hoping to find a more powerful half size WiFi card.

Re: Power over Ethernet support

I apologize for pulling up an old thread, but I did want to add new information: With 802.3at (POE+), 25.5W is available to the powered device. With an efficient power supply, this should be enough even for Fit-PC3 implementations rated for peaks of ~21W. This would be a tremendous benefit for Wifi ...

Re: Wireless card

Add one for someone who is otherwise going to have to replace any Wifi card with one that supports 802.11a/b/g(/n) in host mode on FreeBSD (pfSense firewall), as well as works on Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) and Windows. Common ones are regrettably rare - so far I've been looking at two Atheros AR9280 base...

Re: multi GbE FACE Module

http://www.fit-pc2.com/download/face%20modules/fm-4e4u/fm-4e4u-spec.pdf Most excellent! http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=45117.0 , among other pages, indicate that while it may not be listed in the FreeBSD documentation directly, it's highly likely to work, which is great news for Fit-PC3+F...

pfSense 2.0.1/FreeBSD 8.1

Has anyone else tried pfSense and/or FreeBSD 8.1 on a Fit-PC3? My intended configuration is a Multi-Gbit Ethernet FACE module, a Sparklan WPEA-111N 802.11a/b/g/n Mini-PCIe half size AR9280 wifi card, and a Ubiquiti SR71-e 802.11a/b/g/n Mini-PCIe full size AR9280 wifi card. I'll likely have to modify...

Re: multi GbE FACE Module

That's great news! Can you please provide (or provide a link to) more technical detail on this module? My goal is to replace an ALIX based device with pfSense 2.0.1 (FreeBSD 8.1 based) running on a fit-PC3, Multi-Gbe FACE module, a Ubiquiti SR71-e high power AR9280 based 802.11a/b/g/n card, and a no...
