Re: Windows 8 support on Intense PC

A while ago, I would've agreed with you. I'd tried Win 8 on a non-touchscreen device and decided it wasn't for me. Then I bought a Surface RT and now Win 8 on my other devices makes sense. A friend with a phone8 said the same.

Virtualisation on fit-PC3

I have a fit-PC3 running Windows 7. I'm thinking about upgrading to Win8 so I can run Hyper-V but it occurred to me that there might be an alternative. Does anyone use any other virtualisation on a fit-PC3? I have VMware Player running but it's no good because it doesn't managed the guest when the h...

Windows 8 Hyper-V on fit-PC3

I have a fit-PC3 Pro. According to CoreInfo, it has SLAT and so should run HyperV. Does anyone have Win8 with Hyper V installed?

Problems with Bluetooth package with Win7

This isn't really a problem with the fit PC3 itself, just a warning to others. I built my fit PC3 with Win7 as descibed here . I have an old Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth Keyboard and a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth. Immediately after installing Windows 7, I paired...

prpixel - I've updated my original posts rather than veer further off topic on this thread but in a word, yes.

Re: Looking for a suitable SSD drive for FitPC3 Pro

I bought the drive I referred to in the opening post. It fits like a glove. I built the machine as described in this post and it's working just fine. I've attached a USB IR receiver to control it (with an RC6 remote) and I'm using a block-level iSCSI target on my Synology 411j as my main data store....

External USB TV capture

I'd like to run my fit-PC3 Pro with an external USB TV device. I'm thinking about the WinTV-HVR-1900 with fit-PC3 Pro because I'd like to be able to transfer some of my own video recordings as well. According to the spec, it only needs a 1.2 GHz processor because it has hardware MPEG2 onboard so it ...

Re: Turning fitpc on

My problem with Gabriel's suggestion is that both my keyboard and mouse are Bluetooth to get the range - normal wireless USB ones won't work from sofa to TV. I do have an old SMK USB IR receiver which, I think, came with an Hauppauge WinTV card. I've plugged that into my Fit PC3 and the RC-6 Media C...

Re: Audible humming / ticking in fit-PC3

I agree with the others. I bought mine to be an HTPC and I expected it to be silent - that's why I paid so much for such a tiddly-sized SDD. Ticking is worse than a fan because it's intermittent, so it attracts attention.

I can't recommend this to my friends, at the moment.

Re: How to install Windows 7?

Thanks, Gabriel. For info, they're essentially the same instructions. I used x64 Win7. It fits on a 4GB stick, and that includes the drivers, at the mo. There's not a lot of room spare, though. It built first time. And second time (more of which, later). It's been though several reboots and everythi...
