Re: Booting off CF Card

I tried to use a sandisk Compact Flash 4GB with a SATA adaptor as a small SSD. When I go F2 to BIOS settings a can see the Compact 4GB as a primary drive. 8-) I managed to install the Mageia 1 Linux from the Live CD to the CF, which is seen as /dev/sda. Re: BIOS can see Compact Flash SATA but Linux won't

I've just installed the new Mageia 1 Linux on this CF card, it's ok for the installation itself.
The problem is that it won't boot
Please close this thread, I'll write a new topic, this is an another problem now...

Re: mini howto mandrive with pulsbo and HT

Has anyone tried Mageia on fitpc2 ?
This is a Linux Mandriva distrib fork and it seems the guy that worked on the video driver patch has joined the Mageia team...

BIOS can see Compact Flash SATA but Linux won't [SOLVED]

Hi there I tried to use a sandisk Compact Flash 4GB with a SATA adaptor as a small SSD. When I go F2 to BIOS settings a can see the Compact 4GB as a primary drive. 8-) But when I boot my Linux, installed on USB key and SD card, I can't see any device related to the 4GB disk. :? I've looked in /proc/...

Yes yogev_ezra I've seen your post a week ago.

Re: Please report any SD boot success

Thank you matt.
I tried a GRUB install also on the SD MBR, with the Mandriva graphical patched GRUB. It doesn't even reach stage1. :|
But as said before, I'll make my own 4GB sata SSD and it will solve my boot problem.
