Re: Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS fit-pc2i iso for HD install

Just a data point...I have a fit-PC2 (no "i") and I've installed Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS on it with no trouble...using the ISO downloaded from Ubuntu's site. Works fine for what I need. I don't have a desktop, or audio hookups, so I can't say whether either of those works with my setup...I'm accessi...

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 Freezes when many files copied to SAMBA share

Thanks for the info. 0.5w isn't much compared to any normal PC's use, so I'm still way ahead with the Fit-PC2, but it's a largish percentage of the total for the Fit-PC2. I'll look into the Linux options for dealing with C-state problems. Just wasn't sure if it was a hardware issue or a BIOS issue. ...

Re: USB Harddrive standby?

I tested the drive going to sleep while mounted...it does. Any time there's inactivity for more than a few minutes, the drive I got will go into sleep mode. Any access wakes it up. I believe this is a function of the design of the drive, rather than anything the Fit-PC2 is doing with USB. If that's ...

Re: USB Harddrive standby?

Can't answer with respect to Windows, but I just got a WD Elements 2TB external USB drive and hooked it directly to my FIT-PC2 that's running Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS. The drive description says it just supports Windows and Mac (Mac requires a reformat), but I didn't have any problems setting it up f...

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 Freezes when many files copied to SAMBA share

Check http://www.fit-pc2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=1408 Thank you Irads. This was very helpful. I'd been having problems moving large files from the Fit-PC2 to a Windows machine (both Win2K and Win7 Pro 64). Tried it with Samba and with SCP, and both would get about 50 megs into the transfer a...

Re: will there be support for ubuntu 10.04?

Is missing graphics driver support the only issue with 10.04 on fit-PC2? Yes So if one were interested only in the server version, there's no reason not to go to 10.04? Don't need video, or audio or even a desktop. It would be *nice* to be able to support it through an X-server and something like X...

Re: System hangs in gdm splash screen

I'll try anything...at this point the install is expendable. Not sure how to switch to xdm...is there a good link to somewhere with info? I'll check Google, but if you happen to know of one, that would be great. Since I had it working for several days, I'm wondering if some update didn't change some...

Re: System hangs in gdm splash screen

I'm getting a similar problem. Things worked fine for a few days after I installed 9.10, but at some point (not sure when, since I usually access it over the net with SSH using Putty), it started having problems with the GUI interface. When I turned on the monitor connected to the Fit-PC2, the GUI w...

Re: auto-on Mod

I didn't realize that this was optional, and not in the unit I got, either. I'm using the device as a LAN server, so having it stay down after a power failure is not good. I think it should be a standard feature, with a bios control, or an external switch if there's really a desire to have it stay d...

Re: XP won't boot up without thumb drive plugged in

I had a similar issue with installing Ubuntu Linux on my Fit-PC2. The thread is at: http://fit-pc2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1514 The upshot was that it was a BIOS issue in the version of the BIOS my device came with (July 2009 date) that was triggered by the BIOS setting for "Boot-time Diagnost...
